How to Get Started with UPI
Always Do
Verify the beneficiary name before confirming payment.
Use only official UPI apps from trusted app stores.
Regularly update your UPI app for security patches.
Keep your UPI PIN confidential — memorise, never write it.
Check your PGB account balance after every transaction.
Never Do
Never share your UPI PIN with anyone — including bank staff.
Never enter your UPI PIN to 'receive' money — PIN is only for sending.
Never scan unknown QR codes from untrusted sources.
Never click UPI payment links received via SMS or WhatsApp from strangers.
Never use UPI on shared or public devices.
⚠ UPI Fraud Alert
You Never Need Your PIN to Receive Money
The most common UPI scam involves fraudsters asking you to enter your UPI PIN to "receive" a payment. Your UPI PIN is only required to SEND money — never to receive it. If anyone asks for your PIN, OTP, or VPA password, it is fraud. Report immediately to 1800-180-7777 or cybercrime.gov.in.
